The Top 100 Board Games of All Time: Last Will
It’s time for another entry in Shut Up & Sit Down’s Top 100 Board Games of All Time!
Last Will is not a recent game, but it’s considered a classic for good reasons.
In a twist on the Euro engine building genre, instead of gathering resources, expanding your wealth, and improving your properties, you have to spend as much and as quickly as possible, running everything into the ground!
It’s fun to watch how two generations of players approach the game, each with different perspectives and expectations.
The box says it plays 13+ and Tom would have been just about “legally” able to play it when it first came out 15 years ago…
So, what is Last Will about? Your very rich uncle has recently departed, and in his last will he decided to leave all his money to the nephew who can enjoy it the most. To find out who that is, you and your cousins will each be given a substantial sum of money. Whoever can spend it the fastest will inherit all your uncle’s wealth.
Will you be the first to go bankrupt as quickly as possible?
As Matt said: “Optimise your engine for destruction and trash!”
