Spiel des Jahres 2026!
The 2026 Spiel des Jahres nominees have been announced!
The 47th edition of the most prestigious award in the board games industry has identified the best games for each category.
There are certain requirements a game must meet in order to be eligible for the nomination:
- Language: All rules and relevant text must be in German.
- Release Window: It must have been published in the current or previous year.
- Availability: It must be available in regular retail stores (not a prototype, small print run, or Kickstarter-exclusive).
- Distribution: There must be a distributor in the German-speaking region.
- Standalone: It must be a complete, standalone game. Mere expansions are not considered.
Below you can find the list of the 9 nominees for the three categories, plus all the recommended games.
At the time of writing, not every title is available in the UK.
We will update the list with new links once that will change.
The winners will be announced on 12 July 2026.
