Dirt & Dust Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Game
It's time for another Shut Up & Sit Down's review!
In this episode, Matt will talk about a quite unique and difficult to label game.
Dirt & Dust is a game for anyone who likes cars, but also for anyone who likes unusual games that go on a deep dive into a niche.
Viewers be warned!
Quite surprisingly, it's important to clarify one thing: this is NOT a racing game!
It's so unique that even Matt struggles to categorize it: he calls it a deck-building card game that sometimes feels like a Eurogame...you are not racing against other players, you are rallying, and your real opponent is the track.
Each player will race indipendently, trying to score the best time on the track.
And just to make sure it's clear that Dirt & Dust is not a racing game, it doesn't even have an actual race track, replaced by a victory track.
As Matt says, "it's like spitting in the face of the combustion engine!".
And yet...despite all the abstraction, this game is exciting, surprisingly tense, and conjures the true spirit of racing.
So much so that, at least in Matt's case, you won't be able to play it without making car noises!
