Today we visit the exotic, fantasy-themed lands of Middara!

A fully cooperative, 1-4 player, choose-your-own-adventure style miniatures board game, Middara is the perfect amalgamation of western and eastern sensibilities, blending eastern art styles and western culture.
The result is a world the likes you've never seen, an ultra-modern fantasy setting that exists alongside our very own Earth.

With its inspiration deeply rooted in JRPG-tactics games, Middara: Unintentional Malum Act 1 is a dungeon crawler offering a unique strategic experience, that blends hundreds of illustrations with a narrative that spans the length of four novels-worth of content.

Setting this game even more aside, Middara contains no character classes or archetypes, but instead uses a "point-buy" leveling system that allows players to mix and match the hundreds of Items and Disciplines in whichever combination they so desire.

Middara has an ever evolving narrative, where the outcomes of story decisions and encounters have far-reaching effects that determine how the story moves and resolves. Friends and family might get killed, or they may survive. Maybe the players avoid some problems entirely, only to be faced with a whole new challenge.

Middara: Unintentional Malum Act 1

Middara is a truly epic and massive, fully-cooperative, high-fantasy game.
With its inspiration deeply rooted in JRPG-tactics games, Middara is a unique strategic experience that blends hundreds of illustrations with a narrative that spans the length of four novels-worth of content.
Using Middara Board Game: Unintentional Malum Act 1's 500 page Adventure Book, you and your party will navigate your way through Middara's rich story-driven universe.
What's around the corner? Could it be Loot? What if it's a trap? Maybe it's some narrative that will progress the story? More monsters, more dungeon? All of the above? While playing Encounters, players will reveal hidden secrets when instructed to do so using the Red Revealer.
No mindless grinding: none of the 60+ Encounters in Act 1 will ever be played twice. Whether you win or lose, the story will continue and the story will change. You may succeed a critical Skill Check in a dazzling spectacle of glory. Or you may fail it horrendously. Either way, each outcome will have its own ramifications that will echo throughout your campaign.
Middara Board Game: Unintentional Malum Act 1 is not for the faint of heart: in true RPG fashion, Middara is meant to be played in 3-4 hour sessions weekly over the course of 6 to 8 months.
Middara is a one-of-a-kind take on fantasy that blends eastern art styles and western culture. No goblins, no trolls, no orcs. No Gygaxian beastery, blessed may he be. Instead, Middara is an alternate-world fantasy setting exisiting alongside our very own Earth.
Middara proudly contains no character classes or archetypes, but instead uses a "point-buy" leveling system that allows players to mix and match the hundreds of Items and Disciplines in whichever combination they so desire.
Want to play a stealthy rogue that dual-wields flintlocks, casts blood-magic, and can fly? Go for it. How about a healer clad in platemail that carries a scythe, summons espers from another realm, and can manipulate time? Why not?
Middara : Unintentional Malum - Act I contains 36 double-sided map tiles that are used to created your "dungeons". Each Encounter Setup in the Adventure Book will instruct you on how to lay out these tiles to begin playing. Ancient libraries, treacherous cliffsides, dank caverns, and murky swamps are just a few of the landscapes you'll explore.
There are 17 custom engraved dice included in the game. These dice are used when taking Actions and making Skill Checks. They are separated by color to denote what dice a player uses when making a roll.

Middara: Unintentional Malum Act 1 Insert

Official insert compatible with Middara: Unintentional Malum Act 1. The design provides both efficient storage and improved game play. The trays can be utilised during the game, and they greatly aid set-up and clear-away times. The rule books act as a lid on top of the trays.
The insert is arranged in up to three layers as shown below. Note that the map tiles and adventurer cards are stacked in the top right corner, with the Abraxis cards on top.

Middara: The Pit Boss

In the Depth of Elenia's Mines, an abyssal abomination known as the Pit Boss reigns supreme over his underground kingdom.
Middara Board Game: The Pit Boss offers a Uncommon level bounty where adventurers brave the depths of an Itlum mine, encountering new Adlet enemies and facing the hazards of the miasma.
This Bounty Pack includes new miniatures, powerful loot, and over a dozen Encounters. Discover the secrets of the Adlet kingdom, face the imposing Pit Boss, and claim the Itlum for yourself.
How do you use The Pit Boss Bounty Pack? The Pit Boss Bounty will be used in the same way that The Cave Sickle Queen is used, the only difference is that the Pit Boss is a 3 skull Bounty and may only be attempted on Story Rounds that allow a 3 skull Bounty to be attempted.
The Pit Boss can also be played as a standalone expansion using the build guide rules in the front of the Bounty Book.

Middara Board Game: Kickstarter Promo Pack is an expansion pack that requires Middara : Unintentional Malum to use.
It contains all the promotional characters, Act 1 Esper figure upgrades, and associated cards from the first Middara Kickstarter campaign! It also includes the 2 -3 player variant tarot cards!
