Wood Elves

The Wood Elves of Athel Loren are mysterious and secretive beings, rarely seen beyond their forest borders. Those foolish enough to set foot within their woodland realm, invite the fury of the Wood Elves and their Forest Spirit allies, whether in open combat or through sudden ambush. This book describes in details the Wood Elf army, history and it's heroes.

There are those amongst the Wood Elves who are mightly warriors, often noble lords who rule the Asrai with subtlety and strength. The unmatched warrior-leaders are ideal choices to be the general of a Wood Elf army. Mounted Wood Elf Lord (1 Figure).

The Wood Elf Battalion is a great starting point for a Wood Elf army or it can be used to expand an existing force, approximately 750 points of Core Troops for your army, all you will need is a hero and Spellsinger and you will have a fully legal 1000-point army. The Wood Elf battalion contains: 24 Glade Guard (may also be assembled as Scouts), 8 Glade Riders and 12 Dryads.

Dryads are able to shape-shift into different forms, often mimicking the appearance of Elves, appearing as unearthly, lithe and beautiful maidens. In battle, the Dryads take on their war-aspect, with distorted limbs, features and vicious wooden talons capable of rending and impaling their foes. On the battlefield, the Dryads skirmishing, fear causing style of battle means allows you to flank any unsuspecting units and see them running for their lives. This box contains 12 plastic Dryads.

When Athel Loren goes to war the Glade Guard form the bulk of the army, a deadly core of skilled archers that can often put a foe to flight before the battle has been joined. Glade Guard form the essential bulk of your Wood Elf force bringing devastating massed missile fire to the battlefield. This boxed set contains 16 plastic Glade Guard.

The Glade Riders are perhaps the greatest horse-warriors of the Old World, their Elven reflexes allowing them to perform all manner of seemingly reckless acts that are far beyond the abilities of the lesser races. The best Fast Cavalry in the game of Warhammer, Glade Riders allow you to harry the flank and slow the enemy, whilst your Glade Guard pepper the enemy from afar and your Dryads run around the flank.This boxed set contains 8 complete Glade Riders.

Ever alert to the events occuring in the lands beneath them, the Great Eagles unceasingly carry news to the Elven nobles that dwell far below, giving them a welcome, and often crucial advance warning of invasion or strife. On rare or desperate occasasions, an eagle may offer himself as a mount to a particularly trusted Elf - a great honour in the eyes of the Wood Elves.

No beast in all of Athel Loren is treasured more that the Great Stag, a creature that the Wood Elves revere as representing the true soul of the forest. This boxed set contains a Wood Elf Lord mounted on a Great Stag.

Wood Elf mages have an altogether unique relationship with the forest of Athel Loren. In some ways they are a part of the greater intellegence of Athel Loren, much like the Dryads and Treeman, yet the mages still retain their individuality. Treemen are powerful beings that wield tremendous strength, and Elven mages will wake these powerful creatures only in times of direst necesity. Wood Elf Treeman (1 figure boxed set).
