Agricola is a turn-based game. There are 14 game turns plus 6 harvest phases (after turn 4, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 14). Each player starts with two playing tokens (farmer and wife) and thus can take two actions per turn. There are multiple options, and while the game progresses, you'll have more and more: first thing in a turn, a new action card is flipped over.

Problem: Each action can be taken just once per turn, so it's important to do some things with high preference. Each player also starts with a hand of 7 Occupation cards (of more than 160 total) and 7 Minor Improvement cards (of more than 140 total) that he may use during the game if they fit in his/her strategy. This amounts to countless strategies, some depending on your card hand. Sometimes it's a good choice to stay on course, sometimes you better react on what your opponents do.

Agricola can also be played without cards (family game) and can even be played solo.

Astoria is the first game of Rôle & Stratégie Editions. Displayed in its engraved wooden box, the game also contains a great lot of original material: opening the box reveals four glass flasks and their cork stoppers, sixty large shining gems, 66 illustrated cards, some pawns, and a two-sided paperboard along with two complete rulesets.

There are two rulesets, for there are two games : the "Alchemy version" and the "Epic version".

The "Alchemy version" is team-played ; it is a game of combination putting team strategy and competition to a very challenging level. Players are divided in two teams, each trying to compete for the best cure. Players have limited resources, and the game will end as soon as one is depleted.

The "Epic version", on the other hand, has six different endings. It includes more diplomacy and roleplaying features. Players are powerful mages trying to defend the city of Astoria from many invaders. But they also must watch each other, for traitors are among them..

Each player oversees the building of his city-state. Temple, theater and oracle, a harbor with ships, vineyard with vintner, and many more must find space on the islands. Players must move fast to get the best land for themselves while blocking their opponents from good building spots. As building is expensive, players seek to save money by using the natural resources of the islands. Players also seek to organize their building in an order that gives them the best city-state.

This is the game where buying a cup of tea in Braithwaite could make all the difference or wolfing down that last bar of chocolate gives you just enough energy to race back into Keswick before the Mountain Rescue is called out to scour the hills for you ( and scour your points from the score track too! ).

'Backpacks....' is a game with plenty of scope for interaction and much amusement when your opponents collapse to the grassy sward with a blister or two to delay their progress. It's a family game that adults on their own enjoy as well and one that only takes about an hour to play.

This game is the follow-up to our boardgame 'Backpacks and Blisters', riding high on the popularity of it's sibling game. Actually it's a better game than the original in my opinion as it's got really mean weather! There's nothing like seeing your rivals stuck in a 'white out' while carrying the Heavy Rucksack, armed with only a hip flask of winter warmer to see them through.

The basic mechanics are the same as 'Backpacks....' but with extra ingredients such as Equipment Cards to spice the gameplay up a bit. It comes with a large size cloth map which doubles as a clean-up cloth in case you spill the beer over it - fully machine washable of course!

It's not a complex game and children can easily learn to play but it's also got enough decision making involved so that adult gamers can get a good interactive game out of it as well.

Today’s practice for the chicken cha cha olympics is feather stealing. Each chicken cha chas to catch each of their opponents without being caught themself. Their reward for catching another chicken is tail feathers. The first chicken to have all tail feathers is the winner! But only a chicken who knows what is in the chicken yard will be able to catch the others and win the game. A chicken with a leaky memory will find himself standing bare-rumped and medalless when the prizes are distributed.

Who is the best angler?

One player takes the role of the two anglers and tries to catch as many fish as possible. The other player takes the role of the fish and with bluff and skill tries to hinder the anglers from catching fish. The angler player decides where to fish, but must do so in the dark (that is, he cannot really see where the fish are), as the fish cards are placed face down. Because of this, he does not know whether he is catching a fish or garbage. Also, when he is lucky enough to catch a fish, he will not know until he lands it how valuable it is. With clever movement of his fish, the fish player tries to get garbage and small fish onto the anglers hooks.

After one game, the players switch roles. After two games, the player with the most points is the winner.

In uncharted waters, the ship, Santa Timea, has collided with a reef, and the sailors set off in the old lifeboats for a hair-raising journey to sheltering shores. As the lifeboats move closer to the islands, water rushes in and sailors get thrown overboard. But it's all done democratically and the majority rules - unless you happen to play the Captain’s Hat at the right time to overrule everyone.

In Lifeboats, players use their cards to vote for which boat moves closer to safety, which boat springs a leak and who gets thrown overboard. Negotiation skills are a must and backstabbing will not be uncommon - after all, you will do whatever is necessary to get your sailors to shore... and so will everyone else!

In MixUp™ one player tries to win using the shapes, while the other player uses the colors. The first player to get four tiles in a row, or into a two-by-two square, wins. But take a good look— what first appears like a winning strategy could actually be helping your opponent! This illusive two-player strategy game takes only seconds to learn and minutes to play.

Monastery is a tile laying game in which players construct different parts of a medieval monastery. The work is done by the monks of a player. The monks may move from tile to tile and in addition to building work they can also study, toil or pray. In the ‘icon’ game monks can also make use of the special properties of some of the tiles.

The tiles vary in value ranging from 1 point field and path tiles to 5 point Chapter House and Library. The higher the value of tile the more monks are needed to build it. Players can build independently, but often they are required to work collaboratively.

The game spreads over two days of monastic life, with turns being allocated as time for study and toil or for services in the abbey. At each service a new abbot is elected and apart from going first in the turn the abbot also has some significant powers.

In order to win the game players must collect the letters of the abbey’s motto ‘Libera Nos Quaesumus Ab Omnibus Malis Amen’. The letters become progressively more expensive and players must decide whether to buy letters or recruit extra monks.

Points at game end are also awarded for the ‘blessings’ which players can collect throughout the game.

Neuland lies undeveloped with only a few hunters and woodcutters living there. Players compete to build up a new civilization in which 15 properties promise prosperity and progress, including the Abbey, Guild House, Town Hall, and Stronghold. Who will achieve the chains of production necessary to claim each cultural building? Players must evaluate how much to do each turn since the fewer actions they take, the more they can achieve the next turn. When should you make your big move so you can claim that cultural advance with your coat of arms? The first to place all of their coat of arms wins the game.

Players place workers to produce raw material that must be used to produce more refined material. These materials help you build different facilities to produce even more materials. The uniqueness of the actions is that you can do as much as you want as long as you don't pass the time marker. The time marker moves to the nextp layer piece: which could be you dpeending on how many actions you take. So one must consider doing a small number of actions in order to go more often or take a long turn to do everything you may want.

The territory of Rome is composed in a different manner at each game; on each hill, the players try to make affairs with their merchants, take fields and springs with their farmers and... fight with their soldiers!

A two player game where you pick and pack apples into crates - the catch is the mechanical arm is broken and you control the arm going vertically while the other player controls its horizontal movement.

Players move a pawn horizontally and vertically along rows, picking the apples they want or using a special action like Rush Order (giving you an extra turn) or Premium (making one of your crates worth double).
